Maps provide us with an idea of placing various things in a setting. This gives the space a form and lets one walk through it.
Map is art
In this class, we worked on our second map, With this choose another aspect “Food” To make it easier for the users, icons or symbols are tiny forms of signs used on every chart. Various charts use various icons. We were advised to read through books like ‘Information is Beautiful’ and ‘Map is Art’.
These books helped us to open our horizons to so many possibilities and creations we can do , rather than being basics. How abstraction can be anywhere , and it can used to create and show information.
Proving Information doesn’t need to be descriptive in words, It can be shown through colors , symbols, lines etc.
Food Map
For this map, I created the keys in form of symbols, cutlery, and street shop , All the fine dining restaurants are displayed with a unique cutlery symbol. whereas the street stalls were shown by stall symbol.
