The Conclusion of Metamorphosis
This was our last class for the discussion of metamorphosis, ma’am gave 20 min to go through the book for have a discussion about the characters, their transformation, reactions , feelings etc. The change of events from the first to final significantly impacted the character’s behavior.
How initially, Gregon’s family stopped sympathizing, his sister lost the hope of his brother recovering. Gregon was facing difficulty living this disguised life, he was starving himself to return back back to his old self. His mind still couldn’t accept the change that occurred in his life.
We emphasized on each character’s personality such as, Gregon’s father was greedy, judgmental person, who only appreciated Gregon till the time he earned for his family.He never appreciated his kindness and love for his family. Yet both Gregon and his father had different approach toward life, but always relied on others for acceptance, and validation.
Even, Gregor’s sister metamorphosed into a young adult lady. She took the responsibilities to work hard and be the money maker for her family. Everyone in family, slowly accepted the absence of old gregon and grew out of it. The maturity of emotions in every character created a negative space, gregon felt himself as a burden, and ended his life to be at peace. Every action by gregon was selfless it was all for his family.
Metamorphosis is a fictional, fugitive written story by Kafka, through this story we got to learn about the harsh realities we might face in the real world , How acceptance to dynamic changes is so important.
