The class started with Loving Vincent documentary.

Loving Vincent is a story depicted in oil painted animation about Vincent’s life this movie is a significant cinematic achievement. How every stroke in the scene had movement within the space. The movie held the inspiration starry nights in every frame.

We all observed the major artistic elements , we discussed about observations , the movie was set in the concept of the starry nights, the color pallets ad combination within the whole movie. It was fascinating how, the movement , expressions was so evident in every frame.

We learnt that every stroke: Bold, thin, long short has to do something with the personality of the character. Strokes are distinct according the age of the character as well.

In context of the movie, Joseph Roulin wore yellow trench coat which has bold strokes showed how bold, strong opinionated he was.

  Charcoal Drawing

The portrait of a young girl

Then, we were given an assignment to create a charcoal piece , Lightness , darkness of strokes affects the emotions of the subject . As we learnt that strokes affects the age of the subject, I left the part of the Young girl blank to give the youthful effecting her face. I shaded the neck and under eye portion to define its features .

After, this class I realized,

How even small details affects the whole picture.
